PIAR SLOPEfs main atelier

Meotozaka atelier is placed at the 2nd floor of the flagship shop in Tokyo creating leather jackets and leather bags mainly.
We first started with 1 sawing machine in the same place as the shop but later this 2nd floor atelier was added. Today we have 5 craftsmen and create 1 bag and 1~2 jackets per day.
Each craftsman has experience in this area for 27~37 years. (as of 2021)
The reason we opened atelier at the same place as the shop was that we have realized that it was efficient for craftsmen to listen to customersf voice to create bespoke tailored products. Wefve had many customers want to have those since our start.

Creating our leather jackets

It takes about 20 hours to create one ready-made leather jacket. When it comes to bespoke tailoring, 22 hours are taken for sawing leather parts.
Our total number of jackets created in a year is decreasing each year. This is because the number of bespoke tailored jackets is increasing and almost reaches 50% of our jackets created. Customers for bespoke tailored jackets must satisfy more than for ready-made since those have each ownerfs favors for colors and specs and much better fitting than ready-made. We recommend to wear jackets with best fitting.
We think we will create more bespoke tailored jackets from now on.
Letfs see how we create our leather jackets in a short time not like 20 hours.
*All jackets are in Japanese size.

Patterns: Every our jacket, both ready-made and bespoke tailoring, starts from paper patterns.

Skiving leather: Some parts of leather needs to be skived to avoid making jacket too thick.

Logo: This is an example of our logo placed at the shoulder.

Linings: We traditionally use a serger for linings. We put felt pads on a shoulder part in this image.

Combine lining: Color of our linings has been wine-red since our start.
Processes of creating leather jackets

Cutting leather: Leather is cut by craftsmenfs hand with knives following the shape of patterns.

Leather belts: These parts are for a single jacket and take 2 hours to complete.

Collar: A collar represents a leather jackets. We focus on each stitch carefully.

Sew leather parts: Every part including a collar is sewed into single jacket.

Finishing: This is almost the last process, attaching zippers for a front opening. No single mistake is allowed here to complete masterpiece.

No rush, just elaboratec

At Meotozaka atelier of PAIR SLOPE, we are using post-bed sewing machines that are not popular among apparel manufacturers. Post-bed one is good to sew in curves but not in straight. It is totally opposite from flat-bed.
Then we have to train to saw straight line with post-bed. The most important thing for us is to make beautiful sewing curvescThat is why we have been using post-bed sewing machines since we started PAIR SLOPE.
There is no limitation in time for making our masterpieces as long as we deliver them to our customers on time. There is no rush.
We would like to inform customers who have not been to our shops. Please check our stitches on our product not only designs or materials. We recommend you to bring your magnifying glasses to understand our elaborations.

Our proudly sewn logos on jackets.

Zipper for maintenance: Not only leather jackets but all PAIR SLOPEfs clothing have a zipper on lining. This allows us to used a post-bed sewing machine if jackets need to be fixedcThis is not a pocket.

Meotozaka atelier: 4 sewing craftsmen and 1 pattern designer in a same space as the shop at 1st floor are creating masterpieces.

PAIR SLOPE has emerging Asama atelier since 1993 and they stimulates each other. All our Meotozaka craftsmen must think they can create better masterpieces than them since here is the main atelier officiallyc
